Lyric Coloratura soprano, Martha Eason is currently in her second season at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater. In the 2018-19 Season she performed the roles of Eurydike in Offenbach's Orpheus in der Unterwelt, Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel. As a guest in the 2018-19 season, Martha sang the roles of Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at Theater Münster, Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Oper Leipzig, and the role of Bellezza in Händel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno with Kiez Oper Berlin.
In the current season at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, Martha has performed in Concertant the roles of Amina and Lisa in Bellini’s La Sonnambula, Woglinde in Wagner’s Götterdammerung, Erste Elfe in Dvořák’s Rusalka, Eurydike in Offenbach’s Orpheus in der Unterwelt, and Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel. In the rest of the 2019-2020 Season, Martha looks forward performing the roles of Controller in Johnathan Dove’s Flight, Woglinde in Götterdämmerung and Das Rheingold, Ortlinde in Die Walküre, and Waldvogel in Siegfried.
Martha made her European debut on tour with the Komsiche Oper Berlin in the 2017-18 season as Papagena at the Opéra-Comique Paris in Barrie Kosky’s production of Die Zauberflöte. She also performed the role of Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Komische Oper and at Oper Leipzig. In 2017, Martha also made her role debut as Zerbinetta in Richard Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos with the Berlin Opera Group. During this season she also covered the role of Ophelia in Brett Dean’s Hamlet both at the Glyndebourne Festival and on tour.
